About Karah

I believe that all people are deserving of respect, safety, and the opportunity to achieve their highest potential while coaching with me.

Why I’m a coach

Igniting transformation in people is my passion. Helping someone discover their truth, seeing their eyes light up, being witness to their heart’s door flung wide open to a new life of freedom from what has hindered them—that is my humble privilege and my joy. It’s my spiritual calling and my soul’s honor to serve others in their personal quest for a life of maximum potential.

My story

My life’s journey has been one of moments of intense goodness—I have a compassionate, creative 20-something son who I raised as a single mother for most of his life, but surrounded by loving family and friends who supported us along that hard path. I am beginning my 22nd year as a middle school Theatre teacher in the same school district that I have called my home-away-from-home for my whole career. I have been a surrogate mother for my brother, a professional working actor, a foster home for pregnant cat mamas, and one of those annoying straight-A valedictorian types who could have become anything from a NASA astronaut to a Broadway dancer.

Just as important, though, has been the ongoing thread of tragedy, grief, loss, and disappointment that weaves its persistent presence throughout the vibrant tapestry of my life. I grew up a young child of divorce, a “square peg” in a “round hole” family. I was able to endure a childhood of rejection and abandonment by finding authentic connection in friendships, my academic achievements, and my artistic performance pursuits. However, career dreams dead ended, marriage and family hopes were anything but dreamy, and divorce, repeated unexplained 15-week miscarriages, and my brother’s suicide left my soul and personal vision burnt to ash again and again over the past 25 years of my adult life. The trials and tragedies that have come my way have sometimes seemed cruel, packed one on the next with rapid succession, out of my control and against all of my efforts to prevent.

But, like a phoenix that rises from its fiery destruction more beautiful and more powerful, I have found resilience, strength, and yes, even freedom that lies on the other side of each of those seasons of profound loss, anger, and disillusionment. I am not only a survivor of this hard, baffling, thrilling life we are given, I believe I am called to help others empower themselves to find the phoenix within, so they might soar stronger and more beautifully than ever before.
